It was learnt that the man, Deb Kumar Maity, for the last few days made several calls at Sachin’s Mumbai house and spoke in an inappropriate manner to Sara.
A police source said, he made at least 20 calls to Sara and threatened to abduct her. Soon after the incident, the matter was taken to the Mumbai Police Commissioner.
The calls were tracked to East Midnapore district. A team of policemen from Mumbai raided Maity’s house on Saturday night and picked him up. He was produced before a district court and on Monday he will be taken to Mumbai for further investigation.
The accused used to work as a painter, but, for the last few years, was suffering from depression and had behavioural issues.
It is yet to be ascertained how he got hold of the number to make calls at the Tendulkar residence.
