Firefighters contact residents of Deerfield Township house that burned

The Deerfield Fire Department has made contact with the occupants of the house destroyed by fire Friday.

During the fire, which took place at 14481 Simpson Road, and afterward emergency officials were trying to determine the whereabouts of the couple that lived in the home. Later that evening, Deerfield Fire Chief Brett Holubik said, they made contact and interviewed them at the fire station.

Holubik said the American Red Cross was notified to offer the couple, now without a home, some assistance. He said the fire is still under investigation with Michigan State Police fire investigators being brought on the case.
