Hot cross bunny: Rabbit hailed as second coming of Christ after cross appears on head

A RABBIT is being hailed as the “second coming” after a giant cross mysteriously appeared on its forehead.

REINCARNATION: Owner Kate Hazel was shocked to discover the cross on her rabbit's head

The pet called Fluff coincidently developed the mark just before Christmas.

Now the fluffy brown bunny looks just like a hot cross bun with the markings on her head.

Owner, Kate Hazel, first noticed the strange cross when her daughter, Rosa, pointed it out.

And if all the family coming to visit on Christmas day were not enough she wonders if they were also visited by “the second coming of Jesus, in rabbit form.”

SYMBOL: The cross mysteriously appeared on the rabbit's head before Christmas

Kate said: “We went out there one day to feed her and Rosa said ‘Mum, Mum, Fluff’s turning into the Baby Jesus. She’s grown this cross right in the middle of her forehead.’

“I had a look and it was really pronounced.

“It didn’t come gradually, just suddenly, one day, she had a cross in the middle of her forehead.”

The family then started referring to their cuddly pet as Jesus.

JESUS: The bunny has been hailed the second coming

Kate, who lives in Penzance, Cornwall, said: “We were then calling Fluff the Baby Jesus because she’d come in time for Christmas.

“Someone else saw it and said, ‘It looks like St Piran’s cross.’

“So, she’s either a reincarnation of St Kiran, or the Baby Jesus, or both.”

Fluff has been a member of the family for less than a year and although Kate admits she does not know much about rabbits she suspects the symbol is down to winter fur.

DISGUISE: Fluff looks remarkably similar to a hot cross bun now

She said: “I’m not religious, but some people think they are a sign of something happening.

“But, you know, she’s just a Cornish rabbit with a cross in the middle of her forehead.

“Maybe it’s her new fur coming through, or her old fur, whichever way you look at it.

“So, she might shed it or it might stay there.”

But Kate says she is not expecting the unusual phenomenon to stop.

She added: “She might grow something else. She might have a crop circle on her bottom next week.”
