
Nine people, including six Bangladeshis, were killed and 15 others injured in a road accident in Jizan Province of Saudi Arabia on Saturday.
The deceased Bangladeshis are identified as Dulal from Sirajganj district, Shafiqul from Tangail, Motiur Rahman from Narayanganj, Amir Hossain and Hridoy from Narsingdi, and Jasim from Kishoreganj district, said Shahin Shahjahan, an expatriate in Saudi Arabia.
A pick-up they were traveling in collided with a private car driven by a citizen on the road between the governorates of Samtah and Al-Hareth in south of Jizan Province, Riyadh Daily reported.
A labour councilor of Bangladesh Consulate in Jeddah told bdnews24.com that they are maintaining communication with Saudi Arabia authorities about the incident.
The official spokesman of the Red Crescent in Jizan, Beishi Al-Sarkhi, said that the operations room received a call reporting the collision Saturday morning, according to Riyadh Daily.
He added that six emergency teams were immediately dispatched to the scene. When the teams arrived, 22 people were found at the accident site, including the seven who were killed on the spot.
The injured were rushed to the nearest hospital where two more succumbed to their injuries.
