Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University Vice-chancellor Prof Mohammad Alauddin yesterday said terrorism can be eradicated from the country through a second struggle like Liberation War of 1971.
Prof Alauddin said this as he inaugurated a conference on 'Counter-terrorism and terrorism prevention from social science perspectives' as chief guest on the campus.
Referring to the positive and effective role of the present government in this regard, he urged the young generation to come forward for building a humane society.
The programme was jointly organised by Criminology and Police Science (CPS) Department of the university and Bangladesh Institute of Crime and Justice Studies (BICJS).
With BICJS Chairperson Prof Dr Mokerrom Hossain, also teacher of Sociology and Criminal Justice Department at Virginia State University in the USA, in the chair, MBSTU's Dean of Life Science Faculty Dr ASM Saifulla attended the programme as special guest.
Prof Dr Mizanur R Miah of Valdosta State University in the USA, Prof Dr Shafiqur Rahman of South Carolina University in the USA, Dean of Curriculum of National University of Bangladesh Dr Mohammad Bin Kashem and the Financial Express Planning Editor Asjadul Kibria spoke at different sessions.
