Celtic news: New signing Lewis Morgan vows to emulate Lubo Moravcik

LEWIS MORGAN has vowed to try and bring a bit of the old Lubo Moravcik magic back to Parkhead.

Lewis Morgan will link up formally with Celtic in the summer

New Celtic signing Morgan prides himself on being two-footed – just like Hoops icon Moravcik.

Morgan is naturally left-footed but has worked so hard on his weaker right peg that onlookers now can’t tell the difference.

Moravcik was idolised in the four years he spent with the Hoops between 1998-2002, and Morgan, 21, would love to emulate the Slovakian star.

Morgan – who is staying at St Mirren on loan until he formally joins up with the Bhoys in the summer – said of the Moravcik comparison: “It’s big name to live up to, but I do take set-pieces from both sides.

“It wasn’t natural for me, it was something from a young age I wanted to do to give myself the biggest chance to progress in the game.

“I’ve got to a stage now where I don’t really need to think about receiving the ball with a certain foot and it gives me the ability to go either side. It’s a big tool for me and something I base my game around.

“You’ll find all players can use both feet, they’ll just favour one side.

“It helps me mentally knowing I don’t need to think what foot I’m taking the ball with.

“If I was hitting a penalty and you put a gun to my head I’d hit it with my left, but I’m as good with either foot.”

He added: “Playing for a club like Celtic highlights what you’re doing and accentuates it on a weekly basis.

“Impressing in pre-season and trying to get myself into the team is my first aim.

“If I can hit the ground running at Celtic hopefully that can eventually propel me on to the national team.”

Kundai Benyu sealed a loan move to Oldham until the end of the season yesterday.

The 20-year-old Zimbabwe midfielder joined the Hoops from Ipswich last June.
