College football star Minkah Fitzpatrick and United States gymnast Laurie Hernandez are both from Old Bridge.

One is an Olympic gold medalist and Dancing with the Stars champion.

The other is the reigning winner of the Bednarik Award as college football's best defensive player and a soon-to-be top pick in the NFL Draft.

So who is the bigger young celebrity from Old Bridge?

Gymnast Laurie Hernandez or Alabama football star Minkah Fitzpatrick.

"She's got me beat for sure," Fitzpatrick said Saturday when asked by TMGCollegeSports.com, laughing at the question. "She's got billboards and everything."

Neither Hernandez nor Fitzpatrick is an Old Bridge High School product.

Hernandez, 17, was home-schooled as she grew up training for international stardom. She won a silver medal on the balance beam and a gold medal with her team from the United States in the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Fitzpatrick, 21, graduated from St. Peter's Preparatory High School in Jersey City as a five-star recruit with scholarship offers from dozens of major programs. He started 10 games as a true freshman at Alabama, winning a national title in 2015.

Since then, Fitzpatrick is a two-time consensus All-American. He will play for a second championship ring Monday when Alabama faces Georgia in the College Football Playoff final.

Fitzpatrick said he was taken to the hospital this week after suffering a kidney injury in the national semifinal against Clemson. He was hoping to keep it private.

"Someone tweeted something they weren't supposed to tweet," Fitzpatrick said. "There are laws against it. It's not funny when it's something regarding my health."

How has he recovered?

"I've got two healthy kidneys," Fitzpatrick said.
