Letter writer says San Jose Water Company will see profits increase with the passage of the new tax laws.

San Jose Water Company stands to increase its profits by around 15 percent with the passage of the new tax laws.

The California Public Utilities Commission should immediately put all 2018 residential water rate increases from SJWC on hold (approved and pending) and request it provides a proposal to reduce water rates 15 percent (retroactive to Jan. 1) for its residential customers. Since its residential customers were its only customers targeted with rate and penalty increases during the drought, the rate reductions should only apply to these customers.

SJWC may want to increase bonuses, salaries and buy more equipment, but I think its first priority should be to its residential customers who conserved the most during the drought. Now is the time for us residential customers to be rewarded for the conservation efforts we made during the drought.
