TV picks for Sunday, Jan. 7

WATCH THIS:

“The 75th Annual Golden Globe Awards” (5 p.m. PT, NBC, with a repeat telecast at 8 p.m.):  We don’t envy host Seth Meyers. Normally, this celebration of the year’s best movies and TV shows is a fun, free-wheeling and booze-filled bash. But as Hollywood continues to be rocked by claims of sexual harassment and assault, it’s unclear how current events will affect the proceedings. Of course, a sense of unpredictability often can make for good TV.

“60 Minutes” (7 p.m., CBS): They didn’t lose limbs, but many veterans exposed to blasts in combat will eventually lose their minds. Just like athletes who endured repeated blows to the head, veterans are suffering from the same degenerative brain disease. Sharyn Alfonsi reports on chronic traumatic encephalopathy and its impact on combat veterans.

“To Rome for Love” (9 p.m., Bravo): In this new unscripted series, Diann Valentine takes five beautiful women to Italy. Each is in a different stage of their life with unique stories of love, but all share in the same challenges of dating as a black woman in America. The adventure begins in a decadent villa in the heart of Rome where the women will reside as they explore who they are and what they want from love.

“The Chi” (10 p.m., Showtime): Set in the South Side of Chicago this compelling drama series follows a group of residents who become linked by a senseless crime. The show was created by Lena Waithe, who last year became the first black woman to win an Emmy for comedy series writing (“Master of None”).

“Revenge Body with Khloe Kardashian” (10 p.m., E!): Season 2 has Khloe’s team of fitness, style and beauty experts giving more individualized help and encouragement to participants who want to transform into the person they always dreamed of becoming.

STREAM THIS:

“Star Trek: Discovery” (5:30 p.m. PT, CBS All Access): The space drama returns with the Chapter 2 premiere. While in unfamiliar territory, the U.S.S. Discovery crew is forced to get creative in their next efforts to survive opposing and unprecedented forces and return home.
