New Delhi, Jan 7: CCTV cameras at Mojo’s Bistro were not working at the time of incident, revealed a report by Mumbai Fire Brigade department, days after massive fire broke out at Kamala Mills Compound that claimed  14 lives in Mumbai. “CCTV cameras at Mojo’s Bistro had gone on the blink  a month ago and had not been repaired since then,” the report stated.

The fire team has also recorded statements of several eyewitnesses including 28-year-old Nikam who mentioned that curtain caught fire on December 29 and spread rapidly. On being asked about the CCTV footage of the incident, Nikam said that the CCTV cameras had been non-functional for a month now.

In an inquiry report submitted to the Municipal Commissioner by the Enquiry Committee yesterday, it was stated that the fire started from the Mojo’s Bistro and not from ‘1 Above’ as believed earlier. Following this, one of the owners of the ‘Mojo Bistro’ restaurant, Yug Pathak, was arrested. The names of the two owners of the restaurant, Yug Pathak And Yug Tuli, were already named as accused in the FIR filed in the fire tragedy.

The report also stated that there were several violations of fire safety norms by both Mojo’s Bistro and ‘1 Above’.

The police had earlier booked owners of ‘1 Above’ pub, Hitesh Sanghvi and Jigar Sanghvi, co-owner Abhijeet Manka and others on various charges, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder. The police had also announced a reward of INR 1 lakh for providing information about Jignesh Sanghvi, Kripesh Sanghvi and Abhijeet Mankar, who are absconding.
