The Shelton State women's basketball team defeated Walters State 75-69 on Saturday at the Shelton State News Year’s Classic.
Shelton State had five players in double figures with Cierra Johnson leading the way with 27 points.
Dana Echols had a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds, and she also had six assists. Ashley Scott scored 11, and with 10 points each was Savannah Reier and Maggie Robinson.
Walters State’s leading scorer was Dejah Montgomery with 18 points.
Shelton State, ranked No. 2 in the country, stays unbeaten at 19-0.
Next for the Lady Bucs is a conference game 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at home against Southern Union.
In the first game of the tournament, Roane State defeated Wallace-Hanceville, 72-59.
