indexFor the new year 2018, Tourism Ireland has all started its promotional campaigns in the German market. The drive will start with a TV campaign that will be seen by millions of prospective vacationers for Ireland.

Until middle of February, the campaign will be telecasted on popular German national and satellite television channels like RTL, RTL Nitro, VOX, Sat.1, Kabel 1 and ARD – expected to reach a whopping 17.2 million viewers. Besides the TV ads, an online video campaign will make its way to almost 4 million people separately through popular travel and news websites; the videos will emphasize the extensive range of things to see and do here, like the Wild Atlantic Way, Ireland’s Ancient East, Northern Ireland, their delicious food, outdoor activities, Dublin, car touring, Belfast and the Waterford Greenway.

For tourism, Germany is the third-largest market to the island of Ireland and last year was yet another record year from Germany, when the country greeted over 660,000 German visitors. In 2018, Tourism Ireland targets to increase its German visitor numbers by +8%.
“2017 was the seventh consecutive year of growth for German visitor numbers to the island of Ireland, when we welcomed around 660,000 German visitors,” said Zoë Redmond, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Central Europe. “Our TV campaign kick-starts another extensive and targeted programme of activity in Germany for 2018, to keep the momentum going and build on the growth of the past few years,” she says.
