Everything you need to know for Day 6 of the Giants' coaching search: Pat Shurmur interviews

Vikings offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur became the fourth candidate to interview for the Giants' head-coaching job on Saturday afternoon. Mara, Gettleman and Abrams traveled to Bloomington, Minnesota, to interview Shurmur while the Vikings are off for their first-round bye. Shurmur, 52, already has interviewed with the Bears, Cardinals and Lions.

The Giants have done an odd dance with Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz. ESPN reported last Sunday that Schwartz was the early favorite for the Giants' job. But the Giants didn't submit an interview request for Schwartz until Wednesday, according to ESPN, after submitting the same requests for other assistants when they were first allowed on Monday.

ESPN reported that the Giants would interview Schwartz in Philadelphia this weekend. But there is no interview scheduled, according to a person familiar with the situation. If the Giants don't interview Schwartz by the end of this weekend, they run the risk of not being able to contact the 51-year-old until after the Super Bowl if the Eagles make a run. That's a strong indication that Schwartz isn't a candidate for the position, unless a last-minute interview is scheduled for Sunday.
