FRIDAY NIGHT could be the coldest in US history with wind chill temperatures threatening to plummet to -40C in places. Watch live webcam as New York braces itself for another freezing night.
New York remains under a state of emergency, as well as Flordia, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia.
The extreme conditions suffered across the United States are as a result of the “bomb cyclone” brought along by Storm Grayson.
The National Weather Service described overnight snowfall on Thursday as “impressive” with 17.5 inches falling on Brightwaters, New York.

Dangerously low wind chill temperatures are to be expected the next couple of days
At least 18 people have been killed by the Arctic weather and the NWS has warned a second cold streak could set record low temperatures over the next few days.
The NWS said a so-called “arctic outbreak” is heading across the US East Coast on the back of Storm Grayson.
The NWS added: “While conditions have begun to improve across the northeastern US, the Arctic surge is already underway and accompanied by brisk winds at times.
“Dangerously low wind chill temperatures are to be expected the next couple of days with some blowing snow possible.”

New York City’s John F Kennedy Airport said that service had resumed, urging travellers to check with their airline before showing up for their flight.
There were nearly 140 flight cancellations and 130 delays at the Airport by Friday afternoon, according to FlightAware.
Several areas across the US have already experienced record-breaking low temperatures.
Harrisburg, Pennsylvania hit a record low of -18C, Sioux City, Iowa plummeted to -33C and Hettinger, North Dakota, became the coldest part of the US with a temperature of -44C.
