Liverpool midfielder Philippe Coutinho is said to be heading to Barcelona tonight to finalise his move to the La Liga side.

And he could be confirmed as a Barca player as early as tonight, according to journalist Paul Joyce.

“Coutinho travelling to Barcelona tonight,” The Times reporter shared on Twitter.

“Official confirmation tonight possible, or tomorrow.”

Coutinho is said to have already said his goodbyes to his team-mates, with reports in Spain also claiming the deal is on the cusp of being finalised.

The fee is said to be in the region of £142million, making Coutinho the third most expensive player in history.

Spanish newspaper AS Diario claim the deal could be tied up in time for him to make training with Barcelona on Monday morning.

The claims have also been backed up by La Liga expert Guillem Balague who has revealed Coutinho has not travelled to Liverpool's winter training camp in Dubai.

“On Coutinho - Player hasn’t travelled to Dubai with squad," he tweeted.

“He wants it done ASAP. Willing to put some money towards fee. The figure should be close to €160M.

“No agreement yet between clubs but he would like it all done by next week. FCB would like to make announcement “very soon”.

“Liverpool is trying all they can to convince him to stay till the end of the season once deal with Barcelona has been agreed.

“And they are not actively looking for a replacement after trying to get Keita earlier.”
