"This is outrageous even by POTUS standards," Breitbart London editor-in-chief Raheem Kassam tweeted late Friday, responding to a tweet from Trump that went after "Sloppy Steve BannonStephen (Steve) Kevin BannonOwner of Bannon’s DC house requests fence ‘for security reasons’ Bannon: Roy Moore accusers ‘trying to destroy a man’s life’ Billionaire Trump backer cuts ties with Milo Yiannopoulos MORE."

In a tweet blasting a new tell-all book, Trump claimed that Bannon "cried when he got fired and begged for his job. Now Sloppy Steve has been dumped like a dog by almost everyone. Too bad!"

While Trump has targeted his former chief strategist, Bannon has voiced support for Trump after the release of his comments in the book.

“The president is a great man,” Bannon said on Wednesday on "Breitbart News Tonight," broadcast on Sirius XM.

“You know I support him day in and day out," he continued.

Trump has taunted Bannon after GOP donor Rebekah Mercer, a part owner of Breitbart, distanced herself from Bannon in a statement Thursday, saying her family doesn't "support his recent actions and statements."

Kassam maintained in an interview that their base would not need to choose between Trump and Bannon amid the fallout.

“It sticks all together … If you look at what Steve Bannon is doing, if you look at Breitbart News, it is the only news site in the world which truly endorses the ['Make America Great Again'] agenda, and it doesn’t need to be ‘either/or,' " he told the BBC.

"When Donald Trump is himself on the stump, he has the best political instincts of anyone in the past couple of decades, at least, to build that base and get all those people voting and to the rallies … we’re not on different sides here."
