Samsung to launch 'Galaxy On7 Prime' on Amazon.in next week

But the situation is changing. The name as well some of the key features of this upcoming smartphone has just been leaked. According to reports, Samsung is bringing "Galaxy On7 Prime" in the second week of January and this device will be exclusively available on Amazon.in.

Further, Samsung "Galaxy On7 Prime" will be priced at around Rs. 15,000 -- a key mid-price segment in the highly-competitive Indian market. The new smartphone will be available in two versions -- 3GB RAM and 32GB onboard storage and 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage variant.

Industry sources have also told IANS that the smartphone will come with a 13MP front and 13MP primary camera with an aperture of f/1.9. The device will sport a 5.5-inch full-HD display and an 8-mm metal unibody design, the sources added. And that all we know about the device right now. Quite interestingly, reports have also stated that some of the features and specs of the new device could bear great similarity to Samsung Galaxy On Max which was launched last year at Rs. 16,900.

Meanwhile with the new "Galaxy On7 Prime", Samsung will look to strengthen its mid-range segment where it has witnessed strong competition from Chinese brands.

According to last year's results, Samsung registered over a 27 percent growth in mobile business revenue for the financial year 2016-17, touching a mammoth Rs 34,300 crore. Samsung also became the undisputed leader in the highly competitive and price-sensitive domestic smartphone market.

With this kind of growth, Samsung did eclipse the sales of key Chinese brands such as Xiaomi, OPPO, Vivo, Lenovo and even the Cupertino-based giant Apple. But the company is aiming for more.

The South Korean giant had 60 percent market share (by value) in the premium segment for the August-September-October period, according to German market research firm GfK. For the overall smartphone market, Samsung had over 45 percent market share (by value) from October to December 2017.
