Terriers' Shawn Ryan Still Really Wants to Revive the Show

It's a truth universally acknowledged that FX canceling Terriers is one of the worst things that's ever happened in television history. The critically acclaimed but criminally under-watched series about two small-time private investigators in Southern California lasted just one season before FX pulled the plug on it, but the series found new life on Netflix after its cancellation in 2010. To that end, executive producer Shawn Ryan is still hoping to revisit the world of Hank Dolworth (Donal Logue) and Britt Pollack (Michael Raymond-James) should the opportunity come along.

Speaking with TV Guide at the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Saturday, Ryan said he and creator Ted Griffin -- who have met up with each other a couple times recently, according to Ryan -- would both "be game to revisit that world in some way," whether in the form of a movie or another season entirely.

FX's Terriers: Where Are They Now?

"It would take somebody who's a fan -- I know that I was told anecdotally that the show did well on Netflix in repeats. If this Fox/Disney sale goes through -- it was produced by Fox and so it will soon become a Disney property -- maybe there's someone over there that has been a secret Terriers fan for years who would like to do it," he said. "But I can say for Ted and myself and Donal and Mikey that we're ready to step back into Terriers if someone wants to do it."

"It's still a tough thing to get over, the lack of ratings when the show first premiered," Ryan continued. "It really was ahead of its time in terms of it was a streaming show that I think would have been far more successful on a Netflix or Amazon once binge watching came into vogue. We were like a year or two ahead of that to our detriment."

Although the series was recently taken off Netflix, the entire series is currently available on Amazon. If you haven't watched it yet, do yourself a favor and check it out.
