Twirling, spinning, hooping it up and dancing were a few of the skills on display Saturday during Palm Coast's first "Family Flow Fest," a series of workshops designed to provide physical and mental benefits for participants of all ages.
Sponsored by the Palm Coast Arts Foundation and Florida Hospital Flagler, the afternoon fest in Central Park at Town Center offered workshops in flow movement featuring a diverse group of instructors. Flow arts are said to provide many physical and mental health benefits including improved focus and coordination, according to Barrie Michaels, the arts foundation's marketing and arts director.
Saturday's four simultaneous workshops included acro-yoga, hula-hooping, circus arts, poi spinning, giving participants as many as four different workshop opportunities at any given time and allowing novice participants the option of sampling different skill sets and styles while maintaining the depth within each form for expert dancers looking to sharpen their skills, according to Barrie.
