Real Madrid news: Harry Kane asks Florentino Perez to more than double Tottenham wages

REAL MADRID target Harry Kane wants Los Blancos to pay him more than double what he earns at Tottenham, according to reports.

Tottenham and England striker Harry Kane outscored Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo last year

The England international has now scored more Premier League goals in a calendar year than any other player in history and outfired the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski in 2017.

His scintillating form in north London has seen him tipped for a move, with Real edging ahead of Manchester United in the race to secure his signature.

Bernabeu chief Florentino Perez has lined up Kane to replace Karim Benzema at the end of the current campaign.

And the latest claims from Spain suggest the Real president will have to spend big if he's to get the 24-year-old on-board.

Diario Gol say Tottenham are fighting tooth and nail to keep hold of their talismanic striker.

And that means they're prepared to bump his pay packet from £5.3m a year to £10.6m a year.

Kane is apparently willing to extend his stay with Spurs on those terms.

However, his head has been turned by Real and informal negotiatons are said to be ongoing over a potential switch.

Kane has informed Perez that he will have to offer him more than Tottenham are in order to take him to La Liga.

Perez is willing to sanction such a hefty contract, which would put Kane among the club's highest earners.

Convincing Tottenham to sell him appears to be the biggest stumbling block to their chances of a deal though.

Reports have claimed chairman Daniel Levy would want more than the £198m that Paris Saint-Germain spent on Neymar last summer.
