The cold weather across the entire US are impacting tourism in Southwest Florida.
The frigid temperatures in the north are making the comparatively less chilly temperatures in Southwest Florida comfortable for some visitors, but those looking for the typical warm weather were visibly disappointed.
While it may be chilly in Southwest Florida, the recent streak of freezing weather across the rest of the country is having a positive impact for the area, according to the Collier County Tourism Bureau.
Jack Wert of the Collier County Convention & Visitors Bureau said that when the weather gets colder, tourism sees a better growth and future.
“Honestly, what we’ve seen in the past is that just builds demand for people to come. They’ll show up when they can get on a flight,” said Wert.
However, booking a flight is little difficult in some areas of the country due to the recent weather conditions. Several flights to and from the northeast have been cancelled or delayed due to the ongoing cold.
