Fresh off a convincing Heartland Conference win at Oklahoma Christian on Thursday, the UAFS women's basketball team will look to extend its winning streak on Saturday when the Lady Lions host the Newman Jets at the Stubblefield Center.

Tipoff will be 1 p.m. Live statistics and live stream will be available. The game will be broadcast on KHGG-AM 1580, KHGG-FM 101.1, KFPW-AM 1230 and KFPW-FM 96.7.

UAFS (9-6, 2-1) has won three games in a row and is tied for second place in the conference after Thursday's 90-65 win against Oklahoma Christian. The Lady Lions trail league-leading No. 5 Lubbock Christian (13-1, 2-0) and Newman (11-5, 3-0) by one game.

The Lady Lions average 72 points per game with two players averaging double-figures in scoring — senior forward Tayla Taylor (12.6) and sophomore guard Micayla Haynes (10.5). Junior guard Lundon Williams leads the team in assists per game (4.1).

UAFS out-rebounds its opponents by two rebounds per game (36.9-34.9), and Taylor leads the team in rebounds per game (9.6). She is one of three Lady Lions averaging four or more rebounds per game and is the reigning Conference Player of the Week.

The Lady Lions allow 65 points per game and force 18 turnovers per game. Williams leads the team in steals per game (two), and Taylor leads the team in blocked shots per game (0.7).

Newman remained undefeated in conference play on Thursday with a 78-57 road win at Rogers State. It was the Jets' third win in a row.

The Jets average 71 points per game with three players averaging double-figures in scoring — senior guard Hannah Alexander (15), junior guard Bria DeGrate (10.6) and freshman forward Abbey George (10.3). Junior guard Dede Johnson leads the team in assists per game (2.75).

Newman out-rebounds its opponents by more than three rebounds per game (39.6-36.3). Senior forward Erica Olerich leads the team in rebounds per game (6.9) and is one of three Jets averaging more than four rebounds per game.

The Jets allow only 59 points per game and force 18 turnovers per game. DeGrate leads the team in steals (1.3), and Johnson leads the team in blocked shots per game (0.8).
