FAREWELL ORGANISED IN MP ASSEMBLY
Bhopal:Employees and officers of Madhya Pradesh Assembly on completing retirement age were accorded farewell in the auditorium of the assembly on Friday.Those who completed retirement age were Additional Secretary Ajay Raizada among the officials and Marshal Mubeen Ahmed Khan, Assistant Class 1 Mohammad Yunus Khan, Supervisor Abdul Hafeez, sanitation worker Bhikari Singh and peon Puspha Joshi were among the employees.Assembly Principal Secretary AP Singh honored the retired officers and employees by presenting them mementos and Shrifal.Singh in his address on the occasion said that the outgoing employees and officers provided their services with full devotion, hard work and honesty and were always found to be sober and modest.He wished bright future for the retiring officers and employees. Additional Secretary PN Vishwakarma proposed a vote of thanks.Additional secretary Virendra Kumar, Sudhir Sharma and BD Singh and other officers and employees of the assembly were present in large numbers on the occasion.
HIGH COURT ISSUES NOTICE ON NORMS VIOLATION
Indore:The Madhya Pradesh High Court's Indore Bench on Friday issued notice to the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry and 10 others on a petition concerning non-disclosure of the quantity of nicotine and carbon monoxide in cigarettes on packets as per prescribed norms. Petitioner Harsh Jhunjhunwala's counsel Anshuman Shrivastava said that a division bench of Justice PK Srivastava and Justice V Singh issued the notice and sought replies from the parties concerned within four weeks. The petition stated that the Centre made displaying harmful elements found in cigarettes on packets obligatory. The court issued notices to the Union Secretary (Health and Family Welfare), Union Secretary (Industry and Commerce), the Madhya Pradesh Government's Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary (Health and Family Welfare), Principal Secretary (Industry and Commerce), the Indore Collector and four companies violating the notice.
IAF COPTER MAKES EMERGENCY LANDING
Bhind:An Indian Air Force helicopter which took off from the IAF's Maharajpura base in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior on a routine stortie made an emergency landing in nearby Bhind following a technical snag, police said. The chopper carrying IAF personnel Deepak Chaturvedi, RK Verma and DK Sahu developed technical glitch while flying over Bhind at around 2.30 pm on Thursday.The helicopter took three rounds of the town before making emergency landing at the Special Armed Force's 17th Battalion ground. Town Inspector (Kotwali) SS Kushwah said that additional police personnel were deployed for the chopper's safety.
SC STAYS EXECUTION OF VEERENDRA
New Delhi:The Supreme Court on Friday stayed the execution of Veerendra, who was given death sentenced by the Gwalior bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court for raping and murdering an 8-year-old girl in the state.The Apex Court also issued a notice to the state government on convict's appeal and sought a reply from it.The trial court had earlier convicted the accused for raping and murdering a minor girl, who was his near relative as well. The Madhya Pradesh High Court had upheld the findings of the trial court and confirmed the death penalty to the accused.
FARMER COMMITS SUICIDE
Burhanpur:A 43-year-old farmer allegedly committed suicide today afternoon by consuming poison at his farmland.Shahpur police station in-charge Jitendra Bhaskar said that the farmer, identified as Gokul Singh Chouhan, committed suicide by consuming poison at his farmland in Chondi village, about 30 kilometres from the district headquarters."The exact reason for his step would be known after investigations," Bhaskar said. Danlu Chouhan, the farmer's elder brother, said the deceased was unable to repay an old loan and was distressed as his land was falling in the submergence area of a project.Devendra Singh, manager of Sewa Sahkari Samiti, a credit society at Mohad, said that the farmer's mother had taken a loan of Rs 53,000 in 1999 from the credit society but the amount had spiralled to Rs 2.10 lakh due to non-payment.He added that the onus of repaying the loan fell on Chouhan after his mother passed away.
60 CR GIVEN TO 6 MED COLLEGES FOR CT SCAN,MRI PURCHASE
Bhopal:Total Rs 60 crore has been released to six medical colleges by the Medical Education Department for purchase of CT Scan, MRI and other diagnostic equipments including Gama camera, Colour Doppler etc.Commissioner Medical Education Shiv Shekhar Shukla gave directions to the college deans to purchase and install the equipments within the next 3 to 6 months through Madhya Pradesh Public Health Services Corporation Limited and Government of India undertakings GEM and HLL and ensure diagnostic facilities.The amount allotted by the Medical Education Department includes Rs 29.2 crore to Bhopal Medical College, Rs 11.73 crore to Indore, Rs 5.3 crore to Jabalpur, Rs 5.6 crore to Gwalior, Rs 3.9 crore to Rewa and Rs 4 crore to Sagar Medical College.This important step will solve the problem of unavailability of equipments and essential tests in hospitals affiliated to medical colleges.
