Boys Basketball: 20 South Jersey players off to impressive starts

The calendar has switched to a new year and South Jersey high school basketball is starting to heat up. A host of performers from across the region are off to tremendous starts, whether it be scoring, rebounding or dishing off the ball. NJ.com takes a look at 20 of those players.

A Howard University signee, Ray Bethea Jr. is averaging 25.3 points per game for the No. 16 Vikings. He had a season-high 34 against Ewing and went over the 1,000-point mark with a 29-point performance against Vineland.

Jacquey Mendez is averaging 18.2 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists for the Scotties. He went for a season-high 25 in a recent loss to Woodbury.

Back after missing nearly all of last season with an ACL injury, Corey Greer is leading the No. 14 Panthers in scoring at 18 points per game. He's also contributing 5.7 rebounds and 5.7 assists.
