The Voice UK 2018: Viewers baffled as Jennifer Hudson collects money - but here’s why
THE VOICE UK 2018 viewers were left confused after Jennifer Hudson whipped out a collection dish during tonight’s episode and began accepting donations from the audience.
The 36-year-old judge seemingly baffled some fans who took to social media to complain.
However, Jennifer explained that it was more than just “singing for her supper”.
Viewers took to social media following the broadcast, with one tweeting: “Jennifer Hudson walking round collecting money on the voice, showbiz musn’t pay v well #TheVoiceUK.”
“Did Jennifer Hudson actually just walk round the audience of the voice n took money (sic),” posted another.

A third raged: “@thevoiceuk sorry but the kids going around with Jennifer’s collection plate this bang is out of order this is not what the voice is about! Where is the money u going communicate the charity please!!! #TheVoiceUK. (sic)”
Jennifer previously revealed that she collected money at auditions as part of a yearly tradition.
Speaking ahead of the show's launch in January, Jennifer told press: “A fan gave it to me in America.
“She said every time I sing, I take everyone to church and then she gave me a collection plate.
“I said I would take it with me to The Voice UK. In church, we take up a collection after the choir sings.”

She continued: “So if the acts have sung exceptionally well, I feel the need to get up and take a collection from the audience. Of course any money collected will go to charity.”
Collecting money for charity, Jennifer also admitted that she struggles with the British currency.
Jennifer added: "I have no idea what the money is! I have travelled all across to the UK and I still can't figure it out.”
