Last night’s FA Cup third-round clash between Liverpool and Everton on BBC One began an astonishing run of live games.

The BBC will show two potential giant-killing clashes in 48 hours.

Fleetwood Town’s home game against 2015/16 Premier League champions Leicester City will be screened live at 12.45pm today followed by Shrewbury Town’s tie against West Ham tomorrow.

BT Sport is showing the FA Cup clashes between Norwich City and Chelsea today, Nottingham Forest v Arsenal tomorrow and Brighton’s game against Crystal Palace on Monday.

Then Sky Sports will step in to show the first legs of both Carabao Cup semi-finals on successive nights, with Manchester City taking on Bristol City on Tuesday and Chelsea playing Arsenal the following night.

The domestic action is unprecedented and was hailed as ‘football heaven’ in online forums.

One wrote: “Have u seen the footy on TV? I’ve got the beers in.”

Another said: “FA and League Cup game every night – football heaven.”

A TV insider said the run of live matches was a first.

“We’re used to Saturday and Sunday matches but this is unprecedented,” he said.
