IED blast kills 4 policemen in Indian-controlled Kashmir

(MENAFN) Four policemen were killed and two other injured after militants set off an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Indian-controlled Kashmir.

A police official said: "Today militants triggered an IED blast here which resulted in killing of four policemen on spot, besides wounding two others," and that "the wounded policemen were immediately removed to hospital."

According to officials, the IED, which the militants planted beneath a shop in the marketplace to target the police, has also destroyed four shops in the market.

Groups of police and army rushed to the spot after the incidents, in order to conduct searches for militants in charge of the attack.
