ADRIAN — A man accused of twice exposing himself at businesses in Adrian was charged Friday in a third incident.
Adrian police say Tyler Wayne Judy, 28, was seen exposing himself at the front of the Ace Hardware store at 1525 W. Maumee St. Dec. 18 by an employee watching security video. The information was included in a Lenawee County District Court file for the new charge.
Judy was arraigned Friday by Lenawee County District Judge Jonathan L. Poer on one felony count of indecent exposure by a sexually delinquent person. A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Friday, Jan. 12.
A preliminary examination on the earlier charges was scheduled for Friday before Lenawee County District Judge Laura J. Schaedler. That hearing was rescheduled to go with the new hearing next Friday.
Judy was free after posting the $30,000 in bonds in the earlier cases. Bond in the new case was set at $250,000. He asked Poer to reduce it to personal recognizance so that he could go to work and have surgery next week on his hand, which was in a cast. He said he would agree to conditions that he only go to work and the surgical appointment and not be in any public place and told Poer he had not missed any court or probation appointments.
Poer denied his request, citing the number of alleged incidents. He told Judy his attorney could request a bond reduction at another time.
Poer appointed the Lenawee County Public Defender’s Office to represent Judy. It already was representing him in the other cases.
Judy was charged in August with single counts of aggravated indecent exposure and indecent exposure by a sexually delinquent person, both felonies. The aggravated indecent exposure charge was from an alleged incident at about 9:30 p.m. Aug. 17 in which he is accused of following two 16-year-old girls into the Family Video store at 1407 W. Maumee St. and exposing himself to them.
Judy was arrested after Adrian police released a security video image of the suspect in the incident and received hundreds of tips.
The June 1 incident happened at the Country Market store at 1535 W. Maumee St., Adrian Deputy Police Chief Larry Van Alstine said in an email. He said an employee at the store’s deli was talking to Judy and he exposed himself to her. She did not know his name, but when she saw the police department’s Facebook post about the Family Video incident, she recognized him and contacted police.
Judy waived preliminary examinations in the earlier cases in September and was bound over to circuit court. Those cases were remanded to district court in November.
