Transfer News LIVE updates: All the latest gossip from Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal, Real Madrid, Barcelona, the Premier League, La Liga and more in the January window.

Friday, January 5

11.30pm: Liverpool have reportedly made an approach for Leicester star Riyad Mahrez.

The Algerian has been touted as a potential replacement for Barcelona target Philippe Coutinho.

The Reds have also been monitoring Monaco winger Thomas Lemar, however the Frenchman would prove more costly and has several clubs vying for his signature.

And L’Equipe report that Liverpool have made first contact with The Foxes in an effort to secure the signing of Mahrez this month.

10.05pm: Liverpool have enquired about the possibility of signing Luis Suarez as Philippe Coutinho moves closer to a switch to Barcelona.

The Reds looks set to lose the Brazilian with the Catalan club determined to secure his services.

Liverpool are likely to receive a huge fee of over £140m for their star man.

And Spanish outlet Don Balon claim Jurgen Klopp is keen to reinvest that money and bring in a replacement.

The reports suggest Liverpool have enquired about their former striker Suarez who left Anfield for the Nou Camp back in 2014.

9pm: EVERTON DONE DEAL

Everton have completed the signing of striker Cenk Tosun from Besiktas.

“It feels great to be an Everton player,” Tosun said.

“I’m really happy to be here and happy that everything is done. I’m really excited to play for Everton as soon as possible. Everton is a great club with a big history and a big culture and I’m looking forward to showing the fans the kind of player I am.

“I bring my skills here and everybody is going to see what kind of player I am. I believe I can be a good player in the Premier League for Everton.

“The Premier League is a strong league, I know that, so my own physical strength will help me. Also I can use both feet the same and I believe I am a good striker in the box."

8.40pm: Philippe Coutinho has played his last game for Liverpool, according to Duncan Castles.

He told the Transfer Window podcast: “I also think some Liverpool fans noticed when he played his last game he went and waved to all four corners of the ground after the match, which is not his usual behaviour post-match.

“It's the kind of thing a player does when he's leaving a club.

“Liverpool are being very strategic in they've set their price and they want Barcelona to meet that price.

“They have got the preparation in place to get a replacement in for Coutinho.”

7.45pm: Chelsea are not interested in signing Juventus ace Alex Sandro.

Italian news outlet Calciomercato claim the Blues aren’t in the running for the Brazilian’s signature despite having no experienced replacement for Marcos Alonso.

Reports yesterday suggested Manchester United are firmly in the hunt though.

The Daily Record reckon the talented defender is Josse Mourinho’s No.1 target.

But the Old Lady are reluctant to let Sandro leave and want at least £62m to do business.

6.55pm: Manchester United and Liverpool are eyeing PSG winger Goncalo Guedes.

That’s according to Spanish newspaper El Confidential.

The Premier League heavyweights both need to bolster their ranks during this transfer window.

And it appears the 21-year-old is a target for both clubs.

After a big-money switch from Benfica to PSG last January, Guedes struggled to impress.

He was subsequently shipped out on loan to La Liga outfit Valencia and has flourished.

6.15pm: Liverpool mayor Joe Anderson has called on the Premier League and Football Association to investigate Ross Barkley’s move from Everton to Chelsea.

Barkley today completed a £15m move to Chelsea, putting pen to paper on a five-and-a-half year deal at the Premier League champions.

Anderson posted in a series of tweets: “I will be writing to @premierleague & @FA calling for investigation into the circumstances around the transfer of Ross Barkley between Everton and Chelsea.

“Agent pulls transfer on deadline day of £35m, [he] doesn’t play again, transfer 4 months later [for] £20m [less].

“Everyone knows Barkley is worth at least £50m in today’s market, don’t mind him going but Club and fans being ripped off."

5.45pm: Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is ready to risk his relationship with David De Gea by making Sergio Romero the club’s FA Cup goalkeeper.

The Argentine is set to start tonight against Derby in the third round clash at Old Trafford.

That’s according to the Manchester Evening News who claim Romero will be backed with the World Cup on the horizon this summer.

But that might not go down well with De Gea who was forced to sit out last season’s Europa League final as his deputy was the shot stopper for that competition.

With Real Madrid still interested in signing the Spaniard, Mourinho would be taking a big risk.

United are currently 15 points behind rivals Manchester City and the FA Cup perhaps is a more reasonable chance of winning silverware for De Gea.

5.10pm: CHELSEA DONE DEAL

Chelsea have announced the signing of midfielder Ross Barkley from Everton.

After putting pen to paper, the midfielder said: “I’m overwhelmed, I'm looking forward to it and I'm really excited to get started.

“To be given a fresh start at a new club like Chelsea, it's unbelievable for me.

“I’m looking forward to continuing where I left off at the end of last season and hoping to improve and add more goals to my game.”

4.30pm: Chelsea are set to raid for Riyad Mahrez after completing the signing of Ross Barkley from Everton.

The England midfielder is set to move to Stamford Bridge in a £15m deal after completing his medical at the club last night.

And The Sun claim Leicester ace Mahrez will be the next star targeted by Antonio Conte.

Manchester United and Arsenal have also been linked with the Algerian ace this month as the Premier League big boys look to strengthen.

Leicester boss Claude Puel has insisted Mahrez is happy at the club though and has no interest in leaving the King Power this month.

4pm: Barcelona are desperate to sign Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho to take some pressure off Andres Iniesta, according to Guillem Balague.

He told Sky Sports: ”Why the rush?

“Coutinho can play in the Iniesta role, and they can rest him for the Champions League games.

"Neymar hasn't been properly replaced, there are weaknesses in the side, and it gives Coutinho time to adapt to the side, and the team to adapt to him.

"I feel at Barcelona that they don't feel Coutinho is the kind of midfielder who can play in front of Sergio Busquets just yet, and that he is more a forward, but he could be converted into more of a midfielder if he gets more work without the ball."

3.30pm: Manchester United have drawn up a shortlist of targets as they seek a new left-back this month.

The Daily Record say Juventus star Alex Sandro is the club’s number one target, but the Italian giants are refusing to sell the defender.

United are looking at alternatives and scouts have identified Celtic’s Kieran Tierney and Fulham’s Ryan Sessegnon as other options.

Tottenham star Danny Rose is also high on Mourinho’s wish list.

3pm: Arsene Wenger has issued Arsenal fans with a transfer update ahead of Sunday's clash with Nottingham Forest.

The Gunners have been linked with a host of high-profile names recently due to the uncertainty surrounding Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil's futures at the club.

One name touted as a potential new arrival was Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

But Wenger appeared to definitively rule that move out this morning.

"No, it’s not a possibility," he bluntly told journalists in his pre-match press conference.
