Jaipur: Dense to very dense
fog at many places in the state affected road, rail and air traffic on Saturday. Alwar was the coldest place where a minimum temperature of 0.2 degrees Celsius was recorded.
Bikaner, Churu, Sriganganagar and Hanumangarh witnessed moderate to dense fog in the morning which inconvenienced commuters who shuttle between various villages and cities at these places.
Jaipurites woke up to a comparatively warmer morning as a minimum temperature of 8.1 degrees Celsius was recorded in the city. Even in the afternoon a maximum of 24.0 degrees Celsius, almost 2 degrees above normal, was recorded.
Chaos prevailed at Jaipur airport in the morning when four flights, including one international flight, Masqat to Delhi, was diverted. Many domestic flights from Jaipur were also delayed.
Likewise, at least a dozen early morning trains coming from Punjab, Delhi and Haryana got delayed due to heavy fog in these states. Two trains including Jammutawi-Ajmer and Jodhpur-Varanasi were cancelled due to long delays.
Traffic on the highways connecting Jaipur to Agra, Jaipur to Delhi and Sikar to Churu was chaotic due to poor visibility in the morning.
Alwar was followed by Sriganganagar where a minimum temperature of 1.9 degrees Celsius was recorded, Bikaner 4.6, Pilani 4.8, Udaipur 6.5, Churu 6.2, Jaisalmer 7.2, Jodhpur 7.9, Kota 8.8, Ajmer 9.2 and Barmer logged a minimum of 10.7 degrees Celsius.
Jaipur Met office said that foggy conditions will prevail in the state in the next 24 hours but mercury will continue to take an upward swing.
