Mega Millions: There is One Winner of Friday's $450 Million Jackpot

One Mega Millions ticket sold Friday night matched all six numbers drawn—with the holder to receive a grand prize of $450 million.

The winning numbers drawn Friday night to claim the nation’s 10th largest jackpot in any lottery and the 4th largest Mega Millions jackpot in the competition's history were 28-30-39-59-70-10.

The winning ticket was sold in Florida, according to the Mega Millions website.

The Mega Millions jackpot now resets to its starting amount of $40 million ($25 million cash) for the next draw on January 9.

Those who missed out will have the chance to cash in with an event bigger prize, as the Powerball jackpot rose to $570 million. The draw is to be made on Saturday night.

The jackpots refer to the annuity options for both games, in which payments are made over 29 years. Most winners opt for cash payouts, which would be $281 million for Mega Millions and $358.5 million for Powerball.

It is rare for both of the U.S.’ largest jackpots to grow to such large amounts at the same time—but in the last three years the rules for both games have been tweaked to give them longer odds and larger, more eye-catching jackpots.

The chances of holding a Mega Millions ticket with the winning numbers are about 1 in 302.6 million, while the odds of winning Powerball's jackpot stand at 1 in 292.2 million.
