The South Eastern Railway General Manager SN Agarwal on Friday appreciated the facilities at Tatanagar Railway Station, the only A-1 category railway station under the Chakradharpur Railway Division.
On his second inspection at the railway station today, Agarwal found the upkeep and the track conditions up to the mark. “I am satisfied with the maintenance and the facilities at the Tatanagar railway station. Moreover, the track condition right from Howrah to Tatanagar is in a very good condition,” said Agarwal, after the inspection.
Regarding the much-awaited Jugsalai overbridge project, the general manager said both the State government and the railways have floated tenders for completing work on a joint venture. "If things move in right earnest the overbridge would be ready in another one-and-half-years," he said.
The railway has finalised the blueprint for the Rs 21.54 crore project. The road over bridge was a long pending demand of the people residing at Jugsalai. Sources informed that of the Rs 21.54 crores, Rs 9.77 crores will be spent by the railway, where as the remaining Rs 11.77 crores will be borne by the State government. The road over bridge would ensure smooth traffic and avoid decongestion as the commuters face it now while crossing the level crossing. The existing Jugsalai roundabout will remain where it is not, but its size will be reduced marginally.But, the senior railway official could not comment on the fate of the dilapidated Station-Jugsalai Road. “Yes we are aware of the sorry condition of the road which often inconvenience passengers. But, the road has to be repaired by the local civic body as it falls in their jurisdiction," he pointed out.Agrawal ruled out possibility of introduction of new trains from Tatanagar until the third railway line project gets completed. The ambitious third line project from Chakradharpur to Kharagpur is expected to complete by 2021.
The general manager also took stock of the ongoing renovation and expansion work of the washing line before visiting the computerised passenger reservation centre and the parking area.
Before, coming to Tatanagar, the general manager inspected Chakradharpur, Sini, Chandil and Kandra railway stations.
Divisional railway manager ( DRM) of Chakradharpur Rajendra Prasad, senior divisional commercial manager Satyam Prakash and other senior officials of Chakradharpur accompanied the general manager during the inspection.
