WARSAW, N.Y. — New York State Police have arrested and charged five Buffalo women for their alleged connection to a forged check scheme.

Troopers say the women stole more than $22,000 by forging checks that were purportedly issued from the Attica Correctional Facility's inmate spendable account. The checks were deposited at a number of banks and then a number of Buffalo residents withdrew cash from those accounts.

An official at the facility and Five Star Bank of Attica filed a complaint with State Police.

Troopers made the arrests on January 2nd and 3rd.

The suspects and charges are as follows:

  • Brionna D Drewitt, 20, of Buffalo — felony scheme to defraud, misdemeanor conspiracy, two counts of felony grand larceny
  • Searra T. Mallory, 19, of Buffalo — felony scheme to defraud, misdemeanor conspiracy, two counts of felony grand larceny
  • Phillesha L. Jackson, 23, of Buffalo — felony scheme to defraud, misdemeanor conspiracy, felony grand larceny, misdemeanor attempted petit larceny
  • Jonysha M. Richardson, 22, of Buffalo — felony scheme to defraud, misdemeanor conspiracy, felony grand larceny, misdemeanor attempted petit larceny, felony attempted identity theft
  • Treshanique T. Moore, 21, of Buffalo — felony hindering prosecution

All women are due in Wyoming County Court on January 11, 2018.
