Guv stresses on cultural renaissance in Odisha

The Utkal University of Culture celebrated its 19th foundation day amid pomp and gaiety here on Thursday.

Chancellor of Universities and Governor Dr SC Jamir graced as chief guest at the meeting presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof Kamal Kant Misra.

Jamir expressed his happiness over various activities conducted by the university and participation of its teachers and students in national and international-level programmes. He was impressed for prevalence of ‘Guru-Sishya’ and ‘Pujya Puja’ systems in the campus.

He hoped that the university would play a crucial role in bringing about cultural renaissance in Odisha and become a centre of excellence in near future.

Culture Secretary Manoranjan Panigrahy thanked the university authorities for having shifted to the permanent campus at Madanpur.

He hoped that the university would avail the UGC aids soon and called upon teachers and students to carry forward the objectives, promotion of education, spread of culture and relentless research activities.

He also assured to take required steps to resolve  problems at his level within a short period.

The Vice Chancellor delivered the welcome address and highlighted the aim and objectives of the university. He said the university, despite problems and hurdles, has come a long way and begged everyone’s support for making it full-fledged.
