LU’S HOTDOGS
For some people, there’s nothing more all-American than a good hotdog. That’s the goal of Lucinda Parsons, who opened Lu’s Hotdogs in August.
“There’s people that come in here and say ‘I’m looking for a good hotdog place,’” Parsons said.
While visiting friends in the area, this retired educator decided she had enough of the cold.
“I used to tease my teacher friends in Virginia that I’m going to open a hotdog cart and move to Florida,” Parsons said. “I don’t have a cart. I have a shop.”
The Lu’s Hotdogs come steamed, featuring Nathan’s natural casing dogs. Some folks go for the tradition ketchup and mustard toppings, but Lu’s Hotdogs can be topped with a variety of extras.
There’s the New England dog because Parsons grew up in that area. That combination features bacon bits, baked beans and onions.
Less popular, but with Parsons’ assurance of its flavors, is the Buffalo dog, featuring a spicy Buffalo sauce and blue cheese.
Lu’s Hotdogs also offers three sides: baked beans, potato salad and coleslaw.
It’s a fast lunch, and the dogs can be taken to go or enjoyed in the shop.

INTERNATIONAL RUNNING COMPANY
Something that began as a side activity turned into a business for Zane Holscher and Mary Whalen.
Both are runners, and both have participated in races from all aspects. Holscher’s involvement grew to the point of assisting with the planning of fundraiser races while he was active duty with the Air Force.
Purchasing his own timing system, he was approached by race coordinators to handle the timing aspect. International Running Company grew from the requests, and it began expanding its reach during the past year.
“The cool thing about our system is we provide instant results on (race participants’) mobile devices,” Holscher said. “Their photos—those go right to their mobile devises and websites.”
In addition, International Running Company offers race planning at all levels and for a variety of needs. The packages and price ranges are based on specifics, whether planning a race start to finish, including obtaining permits, or whether simply supplying the time systems.
International Running Company covers Northwest Florida from Pensacola to Panama City, and it reaches into the northern areas of the counties.
