Mumbai Crime: Man watches obscene video in share auto, touches woman inappropriately

On Wednesday, when Mumbai was busy in protests led by Dalits, an incident of misbehaviour with a woman in a share rickshaw took place. Apparently, a 32-year-old man watching obscene video on his phone inappropriately touched a 24-year-old woman in the auto in Andheri on Wednesday. The woman then alerted a patrolling police team and got the man arrested.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, the incident took place at Andheri, when 24-year-old woman, a resident of Santacruz, had reached Andheri by train. As Metro services were disrupted owing to the protests and bandh, she took a share rickshaw. But when the rickshaw driver saw a mob in Andheri (east) ahead of JB Nagar, he took another route.
After sometime the accused, a 32-year-old man, identified as Dharmendra Mistry, a resident from Virar, who was seated next to the woman began watching a YouTube video which had some sexual content. Mistry had positioned the mobile in such way that even the woman could see the video. The accused also allegedly touched the woman inappropriately with his leg and hands.
After this, the woman raised an alarm and a local police patrolling in that area caught the accused. The police seized the man’s phone and he was taken to Andheri Police station. The man’s mobile phone was sent to forensic lab. Police arrested Dharmendra Mistry under section 292 (obscenity in public place) and 354 (sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code. He was granted bail on a surety of Rs 10,000 on Thursday.
