Known as the Central Transmission Utility of India, POWERGRID undertakes transmission of electricity through Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS). The company discharges all functions of planning co-ordination relating to ISTS with all concerned authorities. It ensures development of an efficient, co-ordinated and economical system of inter-state transmission lines for smooth flow of electricity from generating stations to the load centers. Provides non-discriminatory open access to its transmission system for use by and licensee or generating company.
Performance highlights:
The company charged both 200 Kv National Test Station with both the 1200/400KV bays along with the single and double circuit stations of 1200kV lines. It successfully commissioned the second link of Indo-Bangladesh link and Indo-Nepal cross border in 2016. POWERGRID is the first company in Asia to have a comprehensive and written 'Environmental and Social Policy & Procedures (ESPP)' to manage environment & social issues of transmission projects.In n April 2009, it achieved another distinction by becoming the first company completely assessed and certified by World Bank under the Use of Country System (UCS) policy in the field of Environment & Social Management.
Financial performance: The total revenue of the company for FY 2017 stood at Rs.26,287.72 crore. Its PAT was registered at Rs.7,450.73 crore and PBT was recorded as Rs.9,387 crore (Consolidated audited results)
