Moundridge boys falter late

MOUNDRIDGE -- The Moundridge High School boys basketball team fought hard in a one-point loss to the Berean Warriors Friday night, bringing their record for the season to 4-3.

“It doesn’t come down to one play because there were certainly some opportunities we had tonight that just felt like we didn’t get to come up with,” head coach Vance Unrau said.

The game stayed close throughout with a tied score of 7-7 at the end of the first quarter.

During the second quarter, Berean took the lead, and the Wildcats were down six points at the end of the first half, 13-19.

“We just didn’t execute the way we needed to, especially in the first half--the second half was much better!” Unrau added.

The Wildcats clawed their way back as they battled the Warriors in the third quarter, and the score remained tied going into the fourth quarter, 28-28.

Senior Peyton Fast hit a 3-pointer in the fourth to nudge the Cats to a 3-point lead.

With 6.9 seconds left in the game, Berean made a 3 for a final score of 42-43.

Junior Dillon Vogts was Moundridge’s leading scorer for the night with 21 points.

The Wildcats will face Ell-Saline and Sedgwick Tuesday and Friday next week.
