Shocking! Politician asked BMC chief Ajoy Mehta to stop cracking down on restaurants and pubs of Mumbai

Mumbai: Civic Commissioner Ajoy Mehta Mehta has made the shocking revelation that he had received a call from a political heavyweight who had the audacity to ask why he was cracking down on restaurants and pubs. Also, he was asked to stop the action.
However, he did not. He added that “I will listen to all but ultimately follow only the rule of the law.” He made the disclosure during his statement in the house on Friday amid an uproar over the glaring lapses that led to the Kamala Mills fire mishap. Mehta assure that like the roads and nullah scam, corruption in illegal pubs, restaurants and hotels too will be weeded out.
Monday onwards, in civic wards of the BMC, officials will sanitise all illegal pubs, restaurants, hotels and other establishments that are not adhering to standard fire safety norms. A fortnight later, anybody who continues to run an outlet illegally, will face action without notice.
