Woman teacher murder: Police detain two

Police detained two persons on Friday in connection with the brutal murder of Haripur Primary School woman teacher Anjali Dehury near Nirakarpur in the district on Thursday.

Khordha district SP Dipti Ranjan Ray said the Balugaon SDPO has been given charge to investigate into the matter. The forensic team along with dog squad has recovered a bamboo shaft from the crime scene, suspected to be the murder weapon.

“From preliminary investigation it seems someone gave a heavy blow to her head which led to her death. I have called many senior police officers including the Additional SP, two DSPs and IICs of local police stations to cooperate in identifying the culprits,” the SP said.

Anjali, a resident of Kantabada village under the Begunia police station was working as a teacher at Haripur Primary School. She used to stay at a rented house in Badapokharia, about two kms from her school.

According to sources, Anjali returned from her school at around 4 pm in the evening but did not reach home.

Her severely disfigured body was spotted lying on a paddy field.
