Pakistan’s Quetta collectorate surpasses target of revenue collection

QUETTA: Revenue collection by the Model Customs Collectorate of Pakistan’s southwest provincial capital of Quetta in October-December surpassed its target by 52 per cent.

It collected Rs6.5 billion as customs duty, sales tax, withholding tax and federal excise duty (FED) against the target of 4.24 billion.

Its collection during the same period of the preceding year was Rs3.73 billion. Quetta Model Customs Collectorate Collector Ashraf Ali said on Friday that growth in revenue collection is reflective of better enforcement and assessment measures. Data showed collection of customs duty amounted to Rs2.65 billion, sales tax Rs2.6 billion, FED Rs85 million and withholding tax Rs1.08 billion during the quarter.
