It isn’t everyday that you get to play basketball on the same court as the San Antonio Spurs.
The Alice Coyotes had that opportunity Friday night, and they lost a spirited battle to District 30-5A rival Flour Bluff, 62-44.
The game was one of a handful of high school games played before Friday night’s Spurs’ game.
John Leija made the most of the afternoon game and led Alice with a game-high 15 points. Alejandro Barrientes and Austin Garcia scored seven each. Santos Ruiz had six and Ramiro Chavez scored five.
Brandon Trammell led Flour Bluff with 12 points and Dorian Bertero scored 10.
Flour Bluff bettered its season mark to 13-11. Alice’s season record dropped to 4-15.
