BURGLARIES/ THEFTS
A Gadsden business reported theft by deception after a subject wrote a check Nov. 3 as a down payment for a storage building. The check was on a closed account.
Someone stole a motorized scooter, 55-gallon barrels and a 15-foot aluminum ladder between Dec. 26 and Dec. 28 from a residence in the 1400 block of Owens Street.
A TV was stolen and damage was done to a vehicle between 11 a.m. Monday and 3 p.m. Tuesday in the 400 block of Joseph T. Robinson Street. The car was sprayed with black paint and sugar was put in the gas tank.
Someone took jewelry, prescription medicine, a Michael Kors purse and wallet and its contents were stolen between at about 5 p.m. Wedneday from a vehicle in the 1000 block of Rainbow Drive.
A Gadsden man reported the theft of money Oct. 15. He said a man living with him in the 1200 block of Windsor Street took the money but said he would repay it. He has not.
A Stihl chainsaw, a gas-powered drill and miscellaneous hand tools were reported stolen from a truck at a business in the 700 block of Van Dell Avenue. The theft occurred between 8 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.
FRAUD
An Albertville woman reported her identity and her husband’s Social Security check stolen Dec. 15 after she learned someone called the Social Security administration and used her Social Security number to get his check sent to a Gadsden address.
Someone used a Gadsden residents debit card numbers several times in December at a Gadsden business.
ASSAULT
A nurse at a local hospital reported an assault after a patient – a 30-year-old Birmingham man – struck her in the chest Wednesday. She told police the man was taken to a room from the emergency room, apparently under the influence of some substance. She went to check on him and found him walking the halls. She was taking him back to his room when he hit her in the chest with his fist. The suspect tested positive for cocaine, marijuana, heroin and benzodiazepines.
