Syria, Jan 6: 17 civilians were killed in Regime and Russian air strikes on a rebel-held enclave near the Syrian capital on Saturday, a report claimed.

The head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Rami Abdel Rahman, was quoted as saying in an AFP report that the Syrian and Russian aircraft on Saturday continued their intense bombardment of Eastern Ghouta in which several residential areas were targeted.

He added that the deadliest strikes hit the Hammuriyeh district in which 12 civilians, including two children, were killed. Informing further, he said that in the town of Madira and Erbin, two and three persons were killed respectively. In total, 35 people have been wounded in the three areas.

Since the conflict began in March 2011 with anti-government protests, over 340,000 people have been killed in Syria and million others have been displaced.
