Grass fire emergency warning issued for Glenormiston North, in western Victoria

Updated January 06, 2018 15:42:14

A grass fire emergency warning has been issued for the Victorian towns of Glenormiston North, Glenormiston South, Noorat, Noorat East and Kolora west of Camperdown.

An out-of-control fire is burning in a northerly direction towards Castle Carey Road and Wallace Road.

Residents are urged to enact their fire emergency plan.

It is too late to leave and residents are advised to shelter in place.

A watch and act is also in place for a bushfire at Carrum Downs, Frankston North, Langwarrin and Sky, in Melbourne's south-eastern suburbs.

A fire at Blue Wren Rise in Carrum Downs is not yet under control and is travelling in a southerly direction towards Quarry Road.

TV footage of the fire showed it was burning dangerously close to homes, however an emergency warning has not yet been issued.
