11 Saudi Arabian princes arrested over palace protes
Saturday, 6 January 2018 () Saudi officials have arrested 11 princes for staging a protest against the kingdom's austerity measures. According to a report from the Saudi news website Sabq, the princes, who gathered in the historical Palace of Government area in the capital Riyadh today, were demonstrating against a government decision to suspend payment of their utility bills.
Local media report that 11 Saudi princes were arrested at a rare protest at the royal palace, coming after last year's corruption crackdown that hit dozens of the country's elite. Matthew Larotonda reports
