Live cricket score India vs South Africa 1st Test: Virat Kohli-led Team will look to counter the South African counter attack and take a lead on Day 2.
Vernon Philander (3/33) has been the best South African bowler on Day 2 of the opening Test against India. Post-lunch, India lost Cheteshwar Pujara on the very first ball as Philander coaxed Pujara to poke at an away going delivery which was very well collected by Quinton de Kock behind the stumps. It came as a huge breakthrough as Pujara had batted the whole of lunch and looked solid. Following which India lost their concentration as Ashwin repeated the same shot which Pujara had got out to as he edges a regulatory catch to Faf Du Plessis at slips. Dale Steyn, however, did not stay behind as he trapped Wriddhiman Saha, LBW to dismiss him for a duck. While, India lost three quick wickets, Hardik Pandya (81*) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (24*) steadied the Indian ship and led India's fightback. Pandya was not cautious in his approach unlike Bhuvneshwar as he clobbered the South African attack at will and scored quick runs. 13:00 IST: Hello and welcome to the live blog of the 1st Test, Day 2 between India and South Africa straight from Cape Town.
This was after Indian bowlers led by Bhuvneshwar Kumar (4/87 in 19 overs) had South Africa 286 all out in 73.1 overs -- a total India would consider as 50 too many after the UP seamer had the Proteas reduced to 12 for 3 inside six overs. It was in the post-tea session where Keshav Maharaj (35) and Kagiso Rabada (26) took their 8th wicket partnership to 37 runs. This helped push South Africa past the 250-mark. Their stand was finally broken when R Ashwin ran out Maharaj in the 63rd over.
