Sixteen shops were burnt to ashes in a fire at Khejurtala Bazar in Nazipur upazila of Pirojpur yesterday.
The shops include grocery, cosmetics, laundry, cellphone, fertilizer and pesticide.
The fire originated from an electric short circuit in a laundry shop, said the victims.
The fire fighters from Nazirpur fire station doused the blaze after an hour of efforts.
