South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Friday sealed 56 major establishments, which were being run at Aruna Asif Ali Road in Vasant Kunj, following the instructions of the Supreme Court-appointed monitoring committee.
“The Pluto Hotel, Poonam Villa, K Hotel, showrooms of Hundai, TATA, Ford, Mitisbushi and Maruti Motors, banquet halls, work shops, offices and other buildings were sealed,” the SDMC official said.
“The action was taken after officials of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) inspected the shops and establishments and confirmed the violation,” he added.
Meanwhile, North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NMC) has removed encroachment from Gaushala Park near Prem Nagar and Inder Puri ‘C’ block in ward number103 and sealed 35 illegal shops in Karol Bagh.
A senior NMC official said that the land at Gaushala Park encroached by scarp vendors and therefore local residents were not able to use it. However, the park in Inder Puri was encroached by establishing various shops.
The staff of North Corporation had to face stiff resistance from locals in which some of the official got injured. “The action was completed later in Police presence to avoid any incident,” he said.
“Thousand of shopkeepers were issued notices in Karol Bagh zone regarding encroachment outside their shops, advising to vacant the encroached land but none of them acted as per advice, forcing the regarding department to take action,” he said.
