Student Selma Teichmann, 19, first met her boyfriend, Maik Lier, 52, when they worked together.
They then struck up a relationship after he friend-requested her on Facebook.
Maik began to message her and while Selma ignored him at first she started to reply and “bit by bit” fell in love with him.
After three months of writing to each other, they met up and have been together for a year now.

Selma said: “While we were writing to one another, I fell in love with him and his feelings grew stronger.
"But at first, I hid my feelings, because I wouldn't admit it to myself.
"After three months only writing, we met each other. From this day on, we knew that we belong together."

"We speak the same language and have similar interests, such as music and drawing," she continued.
“We thought about this huge age gap in the beginning, but for both of us, it was no problem. Our feelings were stronger."
This comes as another student, 21, said strangers confuse her 64-year-old boyfriend with her dad.
Selma, from Munden, Germany, said her family were unhappy at the age gap.

She told them about Maik after hiding her relationship for half a year.
The opinion of Selma's family has been a huge hurdle for them that they are still trying to overcome.
But she is confident they will accept Maik who she hopes will become her husband.
When holiday romance goes horribly wrong

Selma continued: “We want to show everybody that we are happy in this relationship and that age gap relationships are nothing to hide.
"Love has no age, no limits, no labels. Love is love. No matter what they think or say. Everybody has the right to be in love.
"This year we will move in together officially. For the future we are thinking about getting married and starting a family."
